My name's Zac, I'm 24 years old and I'm the one that does all the stuff here at Strange Brit Props.

I am currently studying Production Design for Stage and Screen at Cleveland College of Art and Design (that basically means I'm learning how to design and make props, sets and sometimes costumes for film, television and theatre). When I finish university I hope to turn Strange Brit Props into a proper business doing commission work, as well as doing the occassional bit of freelance work for theatres or television/ films that are in production.

I've been making things for as long as I can remember (and even before, according to elder relatives) and have always loved doing so. So when I came across cosplay and prop making back around 2010 I fell in love and new what I wanted to do. Although it's only been in recent years that I've joined the cosplay scene, throwing together my first costume (the Eleventh Doctor) back in 2013 for a photography class in college where we were given free reign to do what we wanted. I then didn't do anything cosplay related until halloween 2015, when I decided to go all out and made a Winter Soldier costume but with a punk twist to it. And that Halloween costume is what REALLY got me into cosplay; before I just looked at pictures and did bits of research on how to do various things. But now I'm constantly looking into how to do this or that and coming up with ideas for the next cosplay, despite not having done any of the first 10 on the list!

Despite not having done many cosplays myself, I have still made quite a few props. Both for myself and for clients. It's the enjoyment of making those props and then seeing them being used that's what drives me to do this and ignore the words of those who doubt my choices... As long as I get to make things I'm happy. And as I get to make more new things, I'll get to learn new skills and techniques, opening up more possibilities to take on even more commissions and the loop continues.
